in Linux
Applies To:

OS Management Hub (OSMH)
Symptoms:
- OSMH reports "Nothing to update" during patching operations.
- Vulnerability reports indicate older kernel versions still active on the system.
- $
uname -r
command shows the server is booted with an outdated kernel version. - Manual patching via yum update or dnf update after unregistering from OSMH successfully installs the latest kernel.
- $
dnf repolist
does not listol8_uekr7
repository.
Cause:
The ol8_uekr7
(Oracle Linux 8 Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel Release 7) repository is not enabled or attached via OSMH.Without this software source, the latest UEK7 kernel packages are not available to the instance during automated patching.
