What migration date to use for running a feature upgrade?

Summary:

We initially ran a feature upgrade called "Upgrade Time Repository for Absences" with a blank migration date. We ran into errors with future dated absences when creating timecards. We then ran the upgrade using 1/1/2019 migration date which took 2 days to process and no longer receiving the errors. We would like to know what is the best migration date to use for this process? We are already live (since 2021) but have not rolled this out in PROD yet.

Is it normal for the process to run this long, we ran it in our environment with the least amount of data and it took 2 days.
