Hi,

In Data Vizaualisation tool (Dataviz), how can I manage texts that are displayed in application ?

For example, This button in english says : “Revert all changes” and its translation in french “Rétablissez toutes les modifications”

It’s not very acurate translation and should be more “Annuler toutes les modifications”

Another example “enlever la sélection” correponding in SQL “select not in” , this is neither acurate.

It should be something like “Ne pas inclure la sélection”

So, did someone know how to change that ?

Thank you.

PD : I already have made a post there :

but seems to be a better place here

    Addition to @Gianni Ceresa reply:

We (as customer using Czech UI for Data Visualization in OAS) are having quite rich experience with missing Czech translation of couple of "elements" in DV UI - it always happens with new yearly release of OAS (now we are collecting missing Czech translations for OAS 2025). And the only way how to solve is to raise SR with ORA support and they will take care of it and provide (after some time) one-off patch which should "fix" it. But you need exactly provide all missing translations for your language (in form of screenshots and descriptions).

    Hi,

I don't remember having seen official documents on how to handle translations in DV.

In "classic" (/analytics) it is fully documented as it's something done for more than 10 years. DV is built in a very different way and with little to no customization in mind. You can't change the top-right Oracle logo and product name etc.

I suspect it isn't something documented (and supported for now).

If somebody else (maybe Oracle) confirms it isn't possible, your only option will be to raise a SR and report it.

In parallel, if such feature doesn't exist, you can post an idea in https://community.oracle.com/products/oracleanalytics/categories/idealab-oracle-analytics-cloud-server to ask for that feature to be added.

    Hello,

After your comments, I did raise a SR ticket ( SR 3-40379685981 )

Even if the guy from India was very kind and understood was I was telling him and showing him on my screen.

I did have this kind of answer from another guy from development part I think :

    " Hi Boris,

I’ve reviewed the current and expected translations using Google Translate, and based on the results, the current translations are accurate. The expected translations appear to be incorrect.

Here are the details from Google Translate:

Rétablissez toutes les modifications – Revert all changes

Annulez toutes les modifications – Cancel all changes

Enlever la sélection – Remove selection

Ne pas inclure la sélection – Do not include selection

Given this, I believe this is not a bug."

Thus Google translate seems to be the reference even if a french guy say it's wrong 😯

Just for the funny part, If I put in My Google translate from french to english teh sentence :

    Rétablissez toutes les modifications

it gives me : Restore all changes

That's exactly what I understand in french as Restore change is not the same as Revert change, even in english.

  • If they said the translations were fine, it would have been less funny than telling you that you (being French) are wrong, and them (not speaking French) are right because Google Translate said so.

Imagine the quality of translations of other languages if Google Translate is the reference.

Still, that reply is just not acceptable…

Try again to tell them that you, a French person, knows a little better than Google Translate, and they should consider your feedback.

@Boris G. My recommendation as to communication with Support: If you are convinced that you are correct (which is obvious when it comes to correct French translations), than does not allow any discussion or free interpretation from their site (referring to Google Translate as a “ethalon” for correct translations is really ridiculous) , simply request how it should be.

As I insisted, they did do something, but I'm stil waiting for more after this comment 10 days ago :-(

    Hi Boris,

Please note that I have created a translation bug for the development team to review. I will get back to you once I receive an update from them.

@Boris G. If you feel, that you are waiting (for pretty simple stuff) too long, you can go for escalation procedure for particular SR, which gives more attention to this SR (you need to justify it, but it is not a big deal). Sometimes it helps to speed up processing.
