Hi,

It would be great to have the system caching the results from queries where custom Datasets based on Local Subject Areas are used. At the moment, results are never cached and that results in tremendously slow performance in Workbooks using such a type of Dataset.

Thanks.

Cheers,

Jorge

  • Review the new Extract mode for LSAs. I might address your issue. The key thing to understand for this option is that it represents the data for one user — so it does not apply Subject Area security after the extract. If you use this feature, be sure the users you are sharing with have the same access as the user creating the extract.

    Hi @Bret Grinslade - Oracle Analytics-Oracle ,

Thank you for you quick feedback.

I was not aware of the "Extracted" data access option in the Dataset creation screen.

Unfortunately, that's exactly what I'd be after by creating this type of Datasets: application of Subject Area security. Otherwise, what would be the difference between these and CSVs Datasets apart from performance and the need of prior Data Flow execution? And why there's an option of Caching results in this type of Datasets if caching is not possible and when we try to Reload data we receive the error below?

270 WARNING 2025-05-31 06:47:47.795 GMT Skipping execution because of the following reason : Local subject area dataset.

    Cheers,
