Bermuda Hospitals Board raises efficiency, revenue with Oracle Health EHR
Bermuda Hospitals Board hones documentation, order entry, and training processes, while also identifying $1.5 million in previously unbilled charges.
“The move from multiple, siloed patient charting systems to Oracle Health Foundation EHR delivered an immediate and substantial improvement. Likewise, automating our manual billing not only streamlined operations but also allowed us to recover previously lost or held revenue.”
The Bermuda Hospitals Board (BHB) is the only provider of 24/7 healthcare services for Bermuda, serving the island’s 65,000 permanent residents and its many visitors. BHB encountered electronic health records deployment challenges due to the complexity of blending UK, Canadian, and US healthcare standards. The organization’s IT leadership engaged Oracle Health Consulting in a 90-day sprint aimed at resolving daily operational inefficiencies across documentation, order entry, and training. The subsequent Oracle Health Foundation EHR optimization project included workflow and efficiency enhancements, clinical and medical improvements, and new training. In addition, it helped BHB process and bill more than $1.5 million previously unprocessed charges, leading to a significant increase in revenue capture for BHB.1
